Dzuka Africa
Creating a cohesive brand for youth-led rural innovation.
Logo Design · Website Design & Development

Dzuka Africa is a Manufacturing Startups Factory supporting early-stage entrepreneurs — particularly youth- and women-led manufacturing startups.Mawa Creative partnered with Dzuka Africa to strengthen its brand and digital presence.
Dzuka Africa had operated for many years with an established but outdated logo and visual identity. While the brand had built trust and recognition over time, it needed to be brought into a more modern, digital-ready space without losing the elements that stakeholders already identified with. They required a partner they could trust to carefully evolve the brand, not replace it.

Challenge
-
Refresh a long-standing brand identity without losing its original character
-
Maintain brand recognition while introducing a more modern, professional look
-
Translate the updated identity into a functional, contemporary website
-
Create a digital presence suitable for partners, entrepreneurs, and development stakeholders
Approach
Brand Identity Refresh
We began by reviewing Dzuka Africa’s existing logo and visual elements to understand what needed to be preserved. Rather than a complete rebrand, we focused on refinement and modernisation — maintaining key brand cues while improving clarity, balance, and versatility for digital use.

The logo development process was highly considered and iterative. We explored several design directions and logomark options, carefully testing how each performed across different contexts while remaining true to Dzuka Africa’s original identity. Every refinement — from form and balance to scalability and digital usability — was intentional, ensuring the final mark felt familiar yet contemporary. This approach allowed the brand to evolve with confidence, preserving its heritage while positioning it for modern, digital-first use.

To ensure consistency beyond the logo, we developed a full set of brand assets alongside a practical brand guide. This included defined logo usage, colour palettes, typography, and supporting visual elements to guide future applications. The brand guide was designed as a working reference — enabling Dzuka Africa’s team and partners to apply the identity confidently and consistently across digital and print materials as the organisation grows.

Website Design & Development
Building on the refreshed identity, we designed and developed a WordPress website that clearly communicates Dzuka Africa’s mission, programmes, and role in supporting manufacturing startups. The site was structured to be informative, accessible, and easy to manage, while reflecting the organisation’s renewed visual direction.
By handling both brand and web under one roof, we ensured a seamless transition from identity to digital presence.
